We are grateful to all who contribute to make this a successful Foundation and are very proud to present our volunteers in the spotlight. We are happy to spotlight two dedicated women, Allison Kert and Nicole Ruderman. They have dedicated much time and effort to the Foundation in the position of Event Committee members.

Allison KertHello friends! I would first like to thank Live, Love and Laugh for this honor because it means so much to me. I learned of this Foundation through Mindy, Jonathan Penn, Ricki Penn and Dani Gorman. I became involved because I felt it was an important cause to help prevent such a preventable disease. Metastatic melanoma is a destructive disease and a cure must be found.

My personal background is that I attended college at the University of Florida. After graduation I worked in advertising sales before deciding to return to school to get my Ph.D., five years ago. Now 30 years old, I am a doctoral candidate in psychology. My interests are cooking, road-trips, flea markets, photography and enjoying the great outdoors, with SPF 45 of course!

My involvement with the Foundation mainly includes acquiring donations for the auction. I have found great joy in giving to Live, Love and Laugh and spreading the importance of donating to this cause has been very rewarding. My favorite memory of working with the Foundation is feeling the excitement of the Gorman and the Penn families during the very first meeting and also feeling that same excitement during the final meeting before the first annual event, A Night the Stars Shine On. Their dedication and hard work has truly paid off because through their efforts a cure for this disease is getting closer everyday.

I would like to thank Live, Love and Laugh for the honor of being spotlighted in their newsletter. I first learned of Live, Love and Laugh through Founder, Mindy Gorman's, daughter, Ricki Penn and her husband Jon. I have had a great time co-chairing the auction and raffle item committee in which we solicited businesses to donate gift certificates.

Personally, I am 33 and have been working at Lighthouse International for about eight years in their Human Resources Department. I attended American University for my undergraduate degree and worked in the staffing industry after college. I earned my MS at Baruch Zichlin School of Business in their Industrial Labor Relations Program. My interests involve being with my friends and family. I love to read and I also like to watch MTV.

Throughout the planning process for the event, I think that Alli and I were able to get gift certificates from a lot of high end places and I'm proud to be part of such a dynamic Foundation. It was so exciting watching our hard work come to fruition as gift certificates came rolling in and other items were donated to the silent auction.

I look forward to collaborating with Live, Love and Laugh again soon in order to ensure that they reach their mission and continue to influence research in the metastatic melanoma community.
