Greetings,
On behalf of Live, Love and Laugh Foundation (LLL), I would like to thank you for your continued support. Your contributions have enabled LLL to work towards achieving our mission to find a cure for metastatic melanoma through funding scientific research as well as providing patients and families with an emotional and educational support network. We have some exciting news to announce in this newsletter and look forward to sharing all of our successes with you. Your contributions are the reason we have been able to make so much progress.
We are very excited about our focus in 2007 on our initiatives geared towards finding a cure for metastatic melanoma. We are proud to announce that with the funds raised in 2006 we were able to fund Dr. Jedd Wolchok and his colleagues at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center who are conducting innovative research on finding a cure for metastatic melanoma using immunotherapy techniques. We are happy to say that we continue to be one of the only Foundations in the United States solely focused on finding a cure for metastatic melanoma and we hope that you will continue to support our cause.
We cordially invite you to save the date for our second annual fundraising gala, A Night the Stars Shine On, which will take place on September 20, 2007 at Remi in New York City. Last year’s gala was a great success and we look forward to reaching new heights this year. Please join us!
On behalf of the entire LLL community, I would like to give a warm welcome to our newest members of our Board of Directors: Diane Ackley, Dr. Erika Balfour, Richard Campo, and Donna Carr. We would also like to welcome Dr. Jedd Wolchok to our quickly growing Medical Advisory Board. We are very excited about the level of support our new members are providing. Each person has a special connection to our Foundation, be it through very close family members who recently passed away after courageously battling melanoma, through their work as a physician or through their work in philanthropy. I would like to thank all of them for their dedication to our cause.
Our efforts to get the word out about our initiatives don’t stop here, though! This summer we are launching an education campaign in conjunction with The Hampton Jitney Bus Company. Now, riders on their way to the Hamptons will have the opportunity to be educated on melanoma through materials provided to them during their trip by Live, Love and Laugh. We will also be visiting Camp Vega in Fayette, Maine, this summer to educate parents and campers on the dangers of the sun. We look forward to having the opportunity to invite an even broader audience to participate in our mission.
Once again, I would like to thank you for your support. I invite you to read on to find out more about what your contribution to LLL has accomplished this year.
Warmly,
Mindy Gorman
